Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ideal substrate depth?

For most reef tanks, 2-5 cm is sufficient. Avoid depths between 5-10 cm unless maintaining an active DSB (Deep Sand Bed).

Live sand vs dry sand?

Live sand already contains beneficial bacteria and speeds up cycling. Dry sand is cheaper but needs time for bacterial colonization.

Do I need to wash the substrate?

Live sand should not be washed. Dry aragonite sand should be rinsed with RO/DI water to remove dust.
